Our Therapeutic Approach

Sunrise uses multiple therapeutic modalities, in addition to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, that will best suit your child and family in recovering from past traumas and rebuilding connections.

Sunrise Treatment Philosophy

Our clinical philosophy is focused on the individual needs of families and students, and is rooted in family systems theory. The difficulties that families and students face are many, and can vary in presentation. Treatment is not one size fits all. Your family and team will create an individualized treatment plan focused on addressing the individual student and the needs of the family.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a research backed modality for treating adolescents and families with multiple problems and difficulties. DBT helps provide ongoing guidance and support while teaching ever important skills that all can benefit from. We use DBT as a foundation for therapy in order to create an emotional baseline for our students and provide a strong common language among our families and staff. To meet individual needs, however, we utilize therapeutic recreation, equine therapy, EMDR, TF-CBT, psychodynamics, ACT, Brene Brown shame resilience, SMART recovery, and many more modalities of therapy aimed at improving the functioning and skills of each member of the family system. Our ultimate goal is for each family member to generalize those skills into everyday life.
